Stefano Ghisleri
Stefano Ghisleri was born in Brescia in 1985 and began his piano studies at the Scuola di Musica Diocesana in Brescia, where he received a scholarship in May 2004. He was then admitted to the Conservatory “L. Marenzio” in Brescia, where he graduated with distinction in 2009 under the direction of Maestro Alberto Ranucci.
For several years he has been active as a song accompanist with choirs, soloists, chamber ensembles, actors and writers, performing contemporary authors such as Bonera and Facchinetti. In addition to his activities as a performer, he also devotes himself to composition. Particularly noteworthy are the Concerto for Piano and Plectrum Orchestra, which he performed as soloist and conductor with the Orchestra “Arcangelo Corelli”, and the Missa Brevis, with which he opened a sacred festival in Volta Mantovana.
In 2009 he performed Una musica… da favola for piano and narrator with Arnaldo Ragni, with texts by Giorgio Scroffi and paintings by Sara Apostoli, inspired by the Suite Quadri di una esposizione by Mussorgskyj. He attended master classes with internationally renowned artists such as G. Chimini, C. Burato, B. Mezzena. In 2013 he took part in the “Festival Suona Francese”, a concert broadcast several times by the television station “BresciaPuntoTV”. For the same TV station he recorded a concerto for piano and violin with the violinist Anca Vasile and a concerto for piano solo. An article was dedicated to him in the monthly magazine “Panorama Bresciano”. Recently he was invited to participate in concerts commemorating Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his death. He is currently studying composition with Maestro Luca Tessadrelli.
In 2013, he graduated with top marks in “Industrial Automation Engineering” at the Faculty of Engineering in Brescia.
In addition to his musical orientation, he is also active in literature. He received an honourable mention at the international literary competition “Città del Galatone”, the fourth prize at the prestigious literary competition “Premio Amerino”, an honourable mention at the literary competition of the Fondo Ambiente Italiano, an honourable mention at the Michelangelo Buonarroti international literary prize and an honourable mention at the Emilio Gadda competition in Milan. He has participated as a composer in the international project Fundus, which aims to create new repertoire for clavichord and has led to performances of his compositions in Switzerland, Sweden and England. He recently received the “Virgilio Masciadri Award”, dedicated to young artists who have distinguished themselves in the fields of literature and music.
His “Concertino for Harpsichord and Strings”, premiered at the Organ Points in Hochdorf (Switzerland), was a great success with audiences and critics.
Recently, he presented his new composition “Turner Sonatina” at the Tate Britain in London, a work inspired by the paintings of the famous English artist. The fourth movement of the sonatina, Allegro assai, was a finalist at the 2020 “Fidelius” Piano Competition in Madrid.
For years, he has been collaborating with various associations as a scholarly contributor. Since 2017, he has been engaged as an external expert at the Veronica Gambara High School of Music in Brescia on a course which not only teaches music theory and instrumental lessons but which also shows the interrelation between mathematics, physics and music.
